Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act, 2023 (ECCTA) Changes

UK Companies House, once a passive filing cabinet, now has powers to verify company data, identify fraudulent firms and liaise with law enforcement. Director’s ID verification is crucial to enhancing the quality of information stored in their database. It’s an important step to rebuild trust in corporate Britain, and it’s happening now.

From 18 November 2025, new directors and PSCs must verify their identity before appointment. As an ACSP, Cogency Global facilitates the verification process directly with Companies House, providing law firms with a fast and compliant solution.
